Konica Minolta is announcing its new Universal Print Driver (UPD), will be released in late summer. This tool is the door opener to reach more efficiency in each integrated work area of small, middle and also large offices. With a single user interface (UI) Konica Minolta's UPD offers various benefits for both IT administrators and users."By implementing our Universal Print Driver UPD, IT experts can significantly reduce administration time and costs," says Minoru Fukushima, Product Planning Manager at Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe. "Until today they had to install drivers for each product. UPD not only eliminates these installation marathons but also makes complex function testing unnecessary as the driver's core is the same for every integrated printer." Besides these IT administrator benefits, Konica Minolta's UPD also serves users with multiple printers. For all their demands this single printer driver is more than a match. It automatically detects network printers and displays a list from which users can select the device to be used. Operators also can configure new multifunctional devices (MFPs) and printers connected to the office environment. A further key feature of Konica Minolta's Universal Print Driver is a specific search filter enabling the user to search by feature set. If an operator needs to print a high quality colour A3 double-sided sheet for example, he simply chooses the corresponding attributes, like colour, A3 and double-sided output, in the search mask. The filter then shows all matching devices. For enhanced print job handling, detailed information such as print speed or printer location is shown in the search results.
